The Down Window TV pilot script lurks
The Down Window is a magical realism TV dramedy, with each episode taking place in various countries around the world. In each episode, a naïve act by a child with an attitude creates chaos that ultimately results in a random third party benefiting and changing lives. An emotional roller coaster of laughter, heartbreak and wig tipping panic when no one seems to listen to good advise, and most everyone isn’t who they say they are.
Two worlds intermingle. Through the eyes of little children comes adventure, antics, and realization of who they will become one day. Each child is on a mission to get what he/she wants. Annoyingly, there’s always some jerk who wants to trip them up, or dangerous obstacle that’s too big to topple — like — no idea what your home address is. In the end, its all about oblivious adults learning pivotal life lessons from children, about cultural intelligence, emotional honesty, to supporting the ones you love.
In the pilot episode set in Japan, we follow the misadventures of Kai, as he seeks to find his way back home - but at what cost? Every step introduces him to bizarre and unexplainable twists. Through rarely seen rural areas of Japan, Kai searches in scenic yet dangerous locations, and uses solid parkour skateboarding techniques to elude the po-po. He is watched by Silver, a pierced and tatooed up, otherworld guardian, who looks homeless but moves like a street fighter, and is always reluctant to herds the “cats” she must guide home. Why does she keep warning Kai he only has three days? Kai is befriended by Oji, a homeless, facetious father figure, who will do anything to help Kai find “their way home”. Yet why does Oji tell Kai that he has plenty of time?
The pilot episode pulls the curtain back on the B-story to reveal Ken, a pro athlete, and his clueless attempts to both navigate through his wife’s tragedies and also offer her a healing answer to the question, “Why me?”.
From Nepal to Japan, each episode of The Down Window is a gasp and laugh series with unexpected and witty twists, as it touches on a menu of topics such as refugee camps, miscarriage, natural disasters, search and rescue, social interests, and heart pounding, unpredictable adventure. All a roller coaster ride of havoc, disorderly laughter, and changed lives -- in The Down Window.
