About Silvano-Mari
Writer/Director
Mari was born in Fukuoka, Japan to a Japanese recording artist and an Native American G.I. Her parents were familiar with war, hunger, and discrimination - and from that, Mari learned to sculpt peace, generosity, and inclusion. It is from her parents that Mari learned how to be a survivor.
Her dual cultures are the baseline of who she is today. Having lived in both countries, and worked in several others, Mari writes stories on acculturation, ironic, and familiar aspects of life that celebrate the underdog’s potential and characteristics that are intrinsic to being human no matter what country or culture you're from.
She has been commissioned as a script writer and creative director for video games, provided first and final cut notes on TV scripts, produced for the Travel Channel, held crew positions for award winning films, name brand commercials and web series, and has written/directed various independent films.
As a writer/director, Mari builds her own scripts from firsthand interviews and life's universal challenges. She leverages her experiences in the Asian culture, sobriety, gangs, abuse, grief recovery, and caring for her terminally ill parents for 7 years at home, to inspire healing, to hold out a hand to help others up, and to laugh at life’s "a-ha" moments.
Mari has worked with world-renowned celebrities and also in the legal field for such companies as Disney, National Geographic, Sony Music, and Nintendo.
